The Snow Queen ice ballet postponed by a year – new dates are the 30th and 31st of December 2022 and the 1st of January 2023

The Snow Queen ice ballet is postponed by a year due to tightened COVID-19 restrictions in Finland. The ice show’s new world premiere will be experienced at Tampere’s Nokia Arena on Friday the 30th of December 2022. Already bought tickets are valid and can be used as they are on the new dates.

Due to new COVID-19 restrictions given by the Regional State Administrative Agency of Western and Inner Finland on the 23rd of December 2021, the Snow Queen ice show will be postponed by a year. The Finnish Snow Queen is a historical and significant production of international scope. The preparations were made right to the finish line.

”The Snow Queen is a massive production and we have been working on it for years now. We are so grateful for the enormous amount of effort our team of over 400 members have given to the show. Having to postpone everything this close to the premiere is a tough blow especially to the performers. We will not get all of our financial investments back. The pandemic has been rough on us and on all of the events industry, and that’s why every customer keeping their ticket until next year means a great deal to us”, Paulina Ahokas, the Managing Director of Tampere Hall and one of the executive producers of the Snow Queen, says.

”The support from our viewers is vital to us and we are grateful if as many of you as possible can keep their tickets. As the saying goes: good things come to those who wait. And Snow Queen is definitely something worth waiting for. And luckily, the new dates for the Snow Queen at the spectacular Nokia Arena were quickly found for next year”, Mika Nevalainen, the Business Director of Tampere Hall and one of the executive producers of the Snow Queen, continues.

The performers and the whole team have been busy rehearsing the show at Lohja’s Kisakallio. Reija Wäre, the director and choreographer of the Snow Queen, has given final instructions to all of the 53 performers seen on ice. One of them is the star of the show, Finnish figure skater Kiira Korpi, who has been preparing for the role of the Snow Queen.

”I am so annoyed and sorry that we have to postpone the show. We have been training very hard and the show is going to be incredibly moving, exciting, and ambitious”, Korpi says.

In addition to Finnish skaters, dancers, and ice hockey players, the world class production showcases many international stars such as Felipe Montoya, the Spanish figure skater preparing for the role of Kai.

”I am deeply impressed by the Finnish way of working together to achieve the highest level of art and entertainment combined. The artistic team has adapted this classical tale to ice in such a beautiful way. The performers have become a close team and I am truly happy to be part of this production”, Montoya says.
