The story

In the original fairytale, the king of the trolls has made a mirror that brings bad luck to good people. However, the trolls break the mirror when using it, shattering the little splinters all over the world. The splinters freeze people’s hearts, turning them into evil.

Years later, Gerda and Kai, a little girl and a little boy, live in a big city. Kai’s grandmother tells the children about the The Snow Queen who rules the snowflakes.

Splinters of the mirror end up in Kai’s heart and eyes. His character changes: he becomes mean and impolite. He destroys Gerda’s and his rose bed and does not care for Gerda or his grandmother anymore, considering them ugly. The only thing he sees beauty in are snowflakes.

The next winter, he heads to the market with his sled and sees a big sleigh carriage, driven by The Snow Queen, and he follows her. Outside the city, The Snow Queen takes Kai to her sleigh and kisses him twice: once to numb him from the cold, and a second time to make him forget about his life so far. She does not kiss him a third time, as it would kill him. After the kisses, Kai joins The Snow Queen for a ride on her sleigh.

A captivating and exciting journey begins – an adventure between good and evil.
